Laxmi Ahirwar is a one of our fellowship holder from MP. She is a resident of Pathariya, tehsil Saagar, district Damoh, Madhya Pradesh.. Her father Mr. Tulsiram Ahirwar is a farmer and both her parents were unable to access any formal education. However, they supported her education till class 10 which she passed with the first position.

She got married in the year 2001 after which she passed class 12 with the encouragement of her  husband. She  was unable to continue higher studies due to financial constraints and took up beedi making and agricultural labour. She has been involved in political work around abolishing superstition in dalit communities and removing the veil system amongst women.

She has mobilised in almost 200 villages around the right to education and the importance of educating dalit girls. At present, She is working with AIDMAM for the empowerment of dalit women in Bundelkhand.
