State Level Advocate Consultation in Odisha State encourages Advocates to Take Up Cases of Atrocities against Dalit and Adivasi Communities.
National Dalit Movement for Justice (NDMJ) in association with Ambedkar Lohia Vichar Manch jointly organized Advocates Consultation in the states of Odisha at Cuttack on 13.11.2016. The consultation had the active participation of 45 advocates who came 7 districts of Odisha. The consultation focused on building Advocates collectives at state level to capacitate them on Dalit human rights perspective including SC/ ST (PoA) Act.1989, as Amended in 2015.
The consultation further aimed The aim is to further enhance and encourage the Advocates to take up cases on atrocities against Dalit and Adivasi communities, thereby appointing them as Special Public Prosecutor’s as per SC/ST PoA Act., The focus is also on galvanizing Dalit and Adivasi lawyers in the collective with special emphasis on identifying women lawyers from the community. Hon’ble Mr. Manoranjan Mohanty, Former Member Judicial, Central administrative Tribunal gave insight in legal mechanisms to aspiring advocates and activists present.
