Release of Dalit's Manifesto

National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights has organized a conference on March 18, 2009 at ISI (Indian Social Institute) in which all the Dalit organizations and Dalit activists has participated and released the Dalit Manifesto for upcoming Lok sabha election.

Activists like Prof. Vimal Thorat, Paul Divakar, Raj,SDMJ Prasad, Narendra Kumar, IPAC were also participated in the conference.

Manifesto Release

Right to Life, guaranteed by Article 21 of the constitution to every person, has not been made a reality for the Dalits, even in the most elementary sense of the term, solemnly undertakes and promises to take the following measures in order to make this right a reality for them.

The Charter of Demands calls for justice, security, and empowerment of the Dalits. To empower the Dalits eliminate the inhuman practice of manual scavenging on an urgent footing through effective rehabilitation, alternate and substantial employment measures and development programmes and prosecutes violators of the Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993, especially the gross violators Railways, Defense and Urban Local bodies.

Dalits constitutes the larger part of the country, whoever will come in power they will have to agree with our Special Complain Plan (SCP) Said Paul Divakar, Gen. Secy, Dalit Arthik Adhikar Andolan.

Implement effectively in letter and spirit the SC and ST (POA) Act 1989 and Rules 1995, especially with regard to SC women and accordingly prosecute the dominant caste leaders and their minions who stoke the fire of caste clashes and police officials acting in connivance with them.
After the release of Manifesto, made a committee who will meet the political parties to put the demands of charter into their party agenda and also plan to organize a workshop of state active members to work on the Dalit manifesto.
