"Two Dalit Families severely beaten up and forced to leave the village in Orrisa."
The National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) has received information that two Dalit families were forced to flee their village in Puri District , in India.
The Case Brief
Dalits were refrained from taking part in temple rituals as part of the festival and made to remove and clean dead animals in eth village of Berua under Brahmagiri police station in Puri district.
The difference of opinion led to clashes and dominant caste people beaten up and forced two Dalit families to leave the village. District administration failed to send back them to the village.
Now Dalits are on an indefinite Dharna( agitation) in front of District Collector office. Till now Police has not registered an FIR .
