World Solidarity Forum, Karachi

The National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) in association with the International Dalit Solidarity Network and other Dalit Initiatives has been engaged with the promotion and protection of Dalit Rights in various Global Forums.

 It is primarily with this objective that NCDHR participated in the World Social Forum at Karachi from 24th to 29th March 2006 organizing a Seminar on Gender and Caste Based Discrimination on 25 March, and a Conference on Land Rights and Dalits on 28 March, which was also addressed by Dalit activists from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The NCDHR Team consisted of Ms. Jyotsna, Sr. Carol Ms. Shakila, Mrs. Josphine,

 Manas Jena, Neelaiah, Satish, Babu Singh, Bajrang, Dr. Umakant, and Paul Divakar, the National Convener.

The contribution made towards Dalit Solidarity by the Delegates of the NCDHR at various sessions of the Forum was effective; especially the songs and issue based Street Plays  by the Cultural Team from Rajasthan.
