The National Dalit Watch (NDW) was formally instituted in 2009 in NCDHR  to combat caste based discrimination (CBD) in disaster response and rehabilitation. Last year in 2012, with the organisation of two side events on the margins of Conference of Parties on UN Convention of Biodiversity, hosted by the GoI, the need was felt by NDW-NCDHR and voiced by the experts in the group to study the impact of climate change vis-a-vis natural disasters from the Dalit inclusion lens. Taking off from there, we have commissioned the study together with Society for Promotion of Wasteland Development, which will be released on the day of Conference, which substantiates the need to include Dalit and other marginalized communities in Climate change and Biodiversity discourses and action plans at Civil society and government levels.

We wish to have you with us in this conference to assert our stance in climate change and related discourses which have so far left out Dalits.
