Yamunanagar, November 5 A large number of Dalits from Ismailpur village in Chhachhrouli here today met the superintendent of police and apprehended danger to their lives. Tension has gripped the area after a Gujjar leader, Nitu, was shot at on Saturday. Nitu was under treatment at a private hospital.
In their complaint to SP C.S. Rao, the Dalits alleged that Nitu was involved in the killing of Birampal, a Dalit of the village, but the police had failed to take proper action against him.
In the complaint, signed by several Dalits, it was also alleged that Nitu and some other people had harassed and thrashed them in the past and had teased women of their community.
They alleged that yesterday at around 9.30 pm, several persons of the village reached their basti and fired into the air.
